Foodie fans today is National Hard Candy Day! I'm not much of a sweets person but when it comes to candy - hard candy is one of my first choices... It's also quite easy to make - I usually make a few
pans of peanut brittle and a pan or two of hard candy every Christmas.
Orange Flavored Hard Candy
3 3/4 C. white sugar
1 1/2 C. light corn syrup
1 C. water
1 T. orange, or other flavored extract
1/2 t. orange food

This dinner is a little bit more elaborate, but worth the effort. Todays appetizer is a sunchoke soup with wild-boar smoked ham. As a main dish we serve slow cooked beefshoulder with potato-truffle mash and we finish the meal with a mangoparfait on rasberry mousse. Our wine recommendation for this menu is the 2005 „Cuvée Cecile“ from the vineyard Grand Bourjassot.
