Locating your own product key is a nightmare - even if you manage your search in the computer registry to find it, that code itself is encrypted. Fortunately, there are a lot of third party programs that will do all the work for you.
Our favorite of these is ProduKey, a small application that will deepen the Registry to fish and decrypt your product key. Small file size means that it will not take a long time to download and run.

Once downloaded, just run it once and it will immediately display the product key of any Microsoft Office software until 2013, as well as operating system keys like Windows Vista, 7 and 8. Then you can copy the keys for future use or export them to HTML file for digital storage.
